Green week at VŠE

The week from 19th to 23rd October at VŠE will be "green". The main goal of the event called "Waste sorting week" is to make students and staff aware of the fact, that in the beginning of the new semester, our school had bought in total 104 new bins for sorted and municipal waste.

International student organization Oikos Prague, a newspaper of VŠE students "Studentský list", and the school have cooperated to prepare actions related to the environmental theme. They are expected to enlarge the awareness of this news and simultaneously enlighten the knowledge of people in this area in an interesting way.

During the week, an exhibition including special teaching models in the recycling subject could be seen in front of the RB 101 from Monday to Wednesday. Professional lecturer will be available to answer any question stated.

Another exhibition in called "The secret of your T-shirt" concerns the environment- friendly fashion. You can also see photos from India and Bangladesh made by the Fair Trade Company.

Mr. Miroslav Zámečník, an economist and expert in the field of environmental economics, will be talking about the Green Economy theme. This lecture will take place in RB 101 on Tuesday at 19:30.

On Wednesday panel discussion with entrepreneurs will introduce various firms, i.e. OP Tiger and Evergreen boutique companies. These firms which insist on environmentally friendly production procedures. In addition, you will see a fashion show of environment-friendly clothing. This meeting will take place at 19.30 in RB 212.

A film HOME from world-known photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand, whose photography exhibition called "Earth beautiful unknown" took place in Prague too, will be screened on Thursday from 19.30 in Likesova aula. This film, unique with its approach, processing and commission, aims to address as much inhabitants of the Earth as possible. It also wants to make them realize, what the consequences of our behavior on our planet are.

Students and staff of University of economics have unique opportunity of attending on a free excursion to garbage combustion plant. If you want visit this, you have to sign on a waiting list. It will take place on November the 20th and November the 23rd. Persons interested can sign on info@oikos-praha.org.
