The University of Economics, Prague celebrated 20 years of cooperation with France
The French-Czech Institute of Management (IFTG) has existed at the University of Economics since 1990. An international conference of francophone researchers, a graduation ceremony and meeting with former students took place as a part of the anniversary at the Embassy of French Republic.
The French-Czech Institute of Management (http://iftg.vse.cz/) was established on 1st July 1990 thanks to the initiative of French Embassy in Prague. They decided to provide support to the transforming Czechoslovak economy by furthering the training of managers and university teachers. It was the first international institute of the University of Economics, Prague and postgraduate studies were finished by 19 courses in the Master Management et Administration des Entreprises (MBA-MAE).
French Ambassador P. Lévy, Counsellor for Culture O. Jacquot and Counsellor for the Economy B. Boidin, members of the University of Economics, people from the principality of Prague, the Director of International Relations of Jean Moulin University, Lyon E Callot, Dean of IAE de Lyon J. Rive and other foreign guests from partner universities IAE de Paris and IAE de Nice took part in the festive graduation ceremony.
More than 400 graduates work as managers in French companies, firms trading with francophone territories, or in public administration.
France is among the most important international partners of the University of Economics in many areas. France is an example of a real partner considering the mobility of students and teachers. VSE sent 54 students to study in France and received 53 French students from our 12 partner universities at the University of Economics last year. The exchange of university teachers is also very intense. Fourteen French professors lectured at the University of Economics, Prague. Our teachers are also often invited to France. In 2009, they held nine lecture courses as a part of Erasmus exchange program at universities in Lyons, Paris and Nantes.
The cooperation of French universities with the University of Economics in master’s programs in English is unique. VSE offers, together with the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3, a double degree master’s program, International Business – Central European Business Realities. The first graduates have already obtained degrees from both universities. VSE also has joint degree partners including HEC Paris (Master’s in International Management – CEMS) and Université Lille 1 (Economics of International Trade and European Integration program). Students of the International and Diplomatic Studies master’s program can study at the prestigious Sciences PO Paris University for one semester.
