Master of Economics of Globalization and European Integration – EGEI
The University of Economics, Prague (VŠE) offers six international master’s degree programs taught in English: Master of International Management (CEMS MIM), Master of International Business – Central European Business Realities (IB), Master of Economics of Globalisation and European Integration (EGEI), Master of Economic and Regional Studies of Latin America (CLAS), Master of Finance and Accounting for Common Europe (FINAC), and Master of International and Diplomatic Studies (IDS).
The full-time Master of Arts (M. A.) in the Economics of Globalization and European Integration program is an academic training program developing competence for European economists with career aspirations in research in universities, government and international organizations, and in research departments of large banks and industrial and commercial corporations.
This Joint European Studies Program was established in academic year 1994/95 in the form of a European consortium of seven partners, which jointly award the EGEI degree. Since academic year 2011/2012, Chinese and Brazilian universities have become new partners in the consortium.
EGEI gives scientifically well-founded training in the field of economics of globalization, international trade and integration. It takes place in the form of intensive studies, 60 credits (45 credits for passing compulsory and optional subjects, 15 credits for the thesis) from September 2013 – December 2014.
The EGEI´s added value is completely in-line with the Bologna declaration, the Berlin Communiqué and with EUA Point Master’s Recommendations. With regard to the European dimension, the content of the master is based on advanced results from research activities and the high qualifications of the professors who bring their knowledge into teaching; in addition, this is a real Joint European degree, and students have a high degree of mobility (http://webhost.ua.ac.be/eitei).
With regard to the EGEI admission procedure, students have to prove completion of their studies, at least at the bachelor’s level (in the Czech Republic or other EU country), in an area of economic or socio-economic sciences. They have to pass a written entrance exam in the English language. During the entrance exam, the applicant must prove an ability to understand a specialized text from an area of economics, international trade and integration at the level of finished bachelor’s studies, the ability to answer questions at the level of finished bachelor’s studies and knowledge of current developments in the Czech Republic and the EU in economics, international trade and integration. The EGEI tuition fee is 3 300 EUR.
