Two master´s degree programs at the Faculty of Business Administration successful in the Financial Times Ranking
The Financial Times has published its annual „Master in Management Raking 2014“. The CEMS master´s program ranked as fifth while the branch of Economy and management placed in 69th position. In a 3 year average ranking, The CEMS master´s holds 5th position.
CEMS – The Global Alliance in Management Education, propose a postgraduate, pre-experience degree „The CEMS Master’s in International Management (CEMS MIM)“ open to a select group of students enrolled in a Master’s programme in one of the CEMS member schools. The CEMS master´s program is a joint project of 29 prestigious universities. VŠE has been a member for the past 16 years. At VŠE, this study program is implemented by the Faculty of Business Administration within the International Management branch. Applicants have to successfully pass a demanding, three-level selection procedure with knowledge of English and another foreign language.
The specific characteristics of the Master in International Management program are represented by a close linkage to the business sector based on cooperation with 70 corporate partners such as Škoda Auto, Plzeňský Prazdroj, L´Oréal, Procter&Gamble or Société Générale, and its international scale. All students are obliged to study one semester at a partner university with at least a 10-week internship abroad. CEMS is headquartered in Paris with a highly developed management system. The university presidents are strategic management members (Prof. Machková deputies for VŠE), and vice-presidents are in the executive board (doc. Hnilica). The academic directors are responsible for the educational content and its quality (Ing. Tyll).
The Economy and Management study branch ranked in 69th position, between traditional VŠE competitors in Central Europe – Warsaw School of Economics in Poland (68th) and Corvinus University in Hungary (70th). More than 70 top branches are ranked. Universities from 22 countries were ranked for 2014. The University of St. Gallen (Switzerland) ranked as the first, HEC Paris (France) places as the second and Essec Business School (France) places as the third. Study branches in Central and Eastern Europe are covered by two universities from Poland, one university from Hungary, one from the Russian Federation and VŠE. Only four non-European branches were placed in the ranking: Australia (1x), Canada (1x), People´s Republic of China (1x) and India (2x). The most successful master´s study branches are traditionally from France (19x) and United Kingdom (12x).
