Accelerator of VŠE has launched project registration

The University of Economics, Prague (VŠE) will open a new university business accelerator xPORT in January. xPORT is dedicated to fostering entrepreneurial activities among students and startups. The students can visit the stand of the xPORT on the current event “Week of student opportunities” which takes place at VŠE. The accelerator has already launched registration for students; applicants of the public may register during October.

At the University of Economics, Prague, there are many students with entrepreneurial ambitions. Examples of companies such as Socialbakers or GoodData also show that global startups have great economic potential; thus, VŠE has decided to create a new university accelerator. The facility, which is located at the Jarov dormitory, offers an ecosystem for the acceleration of business and entrepreneurship; it will connect ideas, talented individuals and teams, mentors, foreign accelerators, companies and investors. The development of xPORT is supported by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic and also by companies such as Česká spořitelna (Erste group). VŠE has also decided that the educational activities offered in xPORT will be partly financed from the endowment that the famous Czech entrepreneur Tomaš Baťa bequeathed to VŠE.

xPORT activities consist of 4 parts:

iPORT: This is an opportunity for students or teams who have some idea and they haven´t yet launched their own startup. It guides them from the beginning of entrepreneurship through developing the idea up to fundraising.

aPORT: It supports teams determined to succeed in the transformation of their entrepreneurial plans into successful businesses.

cPORT: It connects interested students with companies during innovative projects. It does not matter what field of study the student is interested in; it´s open for students of marketing, finance or IT as well.

ePORT: It connects the entrepreneurial community from VŠE. It proposes lectures from experienced entrepreneurs or workshops (sales, marketing, finances, innovations, law).

SkyDeck | Berkeley, one of the most innovative and influential accelerator experiences, became a partner of xPORT. So the team from xPORT will have a chance to get to SkyDeck, and the teams of SkyDeck will regularly visit xPORT.
