Conference of VŠE and Korean Embassy
On Thursday 13 November the conference related to 25th anniversary of the fall of communism in the Czech Republic „25 Years after the Fall of Communism in the Czech Republic and its Implications for the Korean Peninsula“ took place at the University of Economics, Prague (VŠE). The conference was organized by the Korean Embassy in the Czech Republic in cooperation with VŠE under the patronage of the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea and the rector of VŠE.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Moon Hayong and the rector of VŠE prof. Hana Machková took part in a discussion about possible application of Czech experiences with 25 years transformation at the Korean Peninsula. Among other speakers were Czech and Korean experts who discussed the application of all political, economic and social aspects of the Czech transformation in Korean conditions.
Alexand Vondra from the Prague Center for Transatlantic Relations and former minister of defence was the moderator during the first session. Cho Nam-hoon, the director of the Center of Security & Strategy (Korea Institute for Defense Analyses) was the speaker. He focused on challenges and subsequent mesuares for military and political transition on the Korean Peninsula during and after unification. Štěpán Pecháček from the Parliamentary Institute (Parliament of the Czech Republic) and Political Scientist Zdeněk Zbořil were panelists in the first session.
The second session was led by Michala Kořan from thte Institute of International Relations. The speaker was Kim Kyu Ryoon from the Korea Institute for National Unification and he focused on challenges and subsequent measures for economic and social transition on the Korean Peninsula during and after unification. Michal Keják from the CERGE-EI and Michal Vodrážka from the Czech National Bank were panelists in the second session.
Both sessions were concluded by the rector of the VŠE prof. Hana Machková.
