Volleyball team of the VŠE Won two medals in the Madrid Tournament
On 19th – 20th November, 2015, the volleyball team of the University of Economics, Prague, took part in the prestigious tournament EuroComillas 2015 in Madrid. This multi-sports competition, consisting of 10 disciplines, welcomed teams from over 40 universities from all over the world. This was a marvelous achievement for the volleyball team of the University of Economics, Prague, as the only participants from the Czech Republic. The Girls’ team won the bronze medal, while the Boys’ team took first place in the tournament.
In Saturday’s semifinal, the girls from the University of Economics, Prague, had to face last year’s winners from the Serbian Faculty of Organization Science of Belgrade, and after very tight and balanced match, our players had to settle for third position.
In the male’s category our players exceeded not only in playing skills, but also in height, which was a deciding factor, especially against the Spanish team from the University Carlos III De Madrid. Moreover, our players were able to maintain their concentration during the whole match, thanks to which, and the strong support of their fans, they achieved victory.
We are grateful for the support shown us by the individual faculties of the University of Economics, Prague, as well as by the Centre of Sports. It was an honor to represent our university, and the Czech Republic, in such an important international tournament.
