QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025 results
VŠE ranked 201st–250th in the world in the prestigious international university ranking by the British company Quacquarelli Symonds QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025. VŠE ranked in three narrow subjects within the broad subject of Social science and management. Compared to 2024, there was an improvement in the fields of Accounting & Finance (from 251–300 place in 2024 to 201–250 place in the world) and Business & Management Studies (from 301–350 place to 251–300 place). A decline happened in the narrow subject of Economics & Econometrics, where VŠE ranks only 351–400 place. Two Master’s programs – Master in Management (111 – 120) and Master in Finance (151+) achieved excellent results.
The ranking aims to inform those interested in studying which universities are among the top in individual fields. The international ranking QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025 evaluated 1,747 universities in 158 countries in 55 narrow subjects covering five broad subjects.
The evaluation’s most significant weight (50%) is academic reputation and employers’ employer reputation (30%). Furthermore, the quality is measured by Citation per Paper (7.5%), H-index (7.5%), and International Research Network (5%). The Scopus database evaluates scientific performance.
The evaluation respects the specifics of individual subjects, and the weight of the criteria varies. In Accounting&Finance and Business, for example, a good reputation among the professional community is essential, and “reputational” criteria weigh 80%. At the same time, more emphasis is given to scientific and research activity in economics and econometrics. The weight of “reputation” in the case of Economics and Econometrics is 60%.
In the broad subject Social Sciences and Management ranked only three Czech universities, namely Charles University, VŠE, and Masaryk University.
