Sustainabililty
Prague University of Economics and Business has been actively involved in the topic of sustainability since 2022, when it became an essential link in the inter-university UNILEAD projects, which were followed up in 2024 with the Sustainable Education and Environmental Development (SEED) project from the Green Deal call of the National Recovery Plan. The SEED project aims to support the revision of existing curricula and the creation of new lifelong learning programmes and courses focusing on green and digital transformation themes, as well as the development of its own strategy in this area for SEED. The project from NPO Component 7.4 Adaptation of School Programmes – Promoting Green Skills and Sustainability in Higher Education runs from the beginning of 2024 to the end of December 2025 with an allocated funding amount for VŠE of 42 million CZK.
A major outcome of the project will be the currently discussed Sustainability Strategy of the VŠE, which is not only a response to global challenges such as climate change and the protection of natural resources but also a reflection of our own responsibility as an educational institution. Our goal is not only to minimize our ecological footprint but also to educate future generations of economists, managers and leaders who will be able to seek innovative and sustainable solutions in various areas of their professional activities. This document sets out a clear vision and concrete steps for achieving sustainability across a wide range of our activities. From implementing sustainability principles in teaching and research to innovations in our university operations to strengthening collaboration with the public and private sectors – all of these areas are integral to our commitment to sustainability. We want to be an institution that leads by example and inspires others in the Czech Republic and internationally.
But the sustainability strategy is just the beginning. Implementing the set goals requires the involvement of the entire academic community – teachers, students, researchers and administrative staff. Your active participation, ideas, and initiatives are essential if we work together to create a more sustainable and responsible university. I believe that together we can contribute to positive change that will impact our university and society as a whole.
Strategic partnerships
An important part of the sustainability strategy is the strategic partnerships that the University has entered into in 2024.
