The University of Economics, Prague (VŠE) has become a member of AACSB, the international association that provides internationally recognized “Business Accreditation”. It takes a couple of years to get this prestigious accreditation. Thanks to membership in AACSB, VŠE has now launched this demanding but rewarding process.

AACSB International (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) was established in 1916. Originally an American association, AACSB now has a worldwide network. For VŠE, membership is the first step to getting a “Business Accreditation” which is known worldwide as the longest standing, most recognized form of specialized/professional accreditation an institution and its business programs can earn. Since VŠE has appointed the obtaining of an international, institutional accreditation in its strategic plan, in the coming years, VŠE will seek to obtain AACSB accreditation for the whole university. The accreditation process will concern all study programs and all faculties of VŠE.

It is the Faculty of International Relations that has the richest experience with the international accreditation process. In 2012, the faculty earned EPAS accreditation for its master’s degree program International Business, taught in Czech, and the International Business – Central European Business Realities master’s program, taught in English. And this yeas, the faculty has successfully passed the process of reaccreditation. The Faculty of Business Administration is currently working on getting EQUIS accreditation for the whole faculty. EPAS and EQUIS accreditations are provided by EFMD (The European Foundation for Management Development).

Prestigious international accreditations are very important for business schools such as the University of Economics, Prague. For partner universities and foreign applicants, it represents a mark of quality at the international level. For VŠE, gaining of an international, institutional accreditation is an important step forwards in its internationalization strategy and the process is helping the university to further develop and keep up with the world’s highest quality “business schools”. Among the holders of AACSB “Business Accreditation” are, for example, Harvard Business School; HEC School of Management, Paris; London Business School or School of Management, Yale University.
