The University of Economics, Prague (VŠE), and Microsoft have signed an Education Alliance Agreement for the next academic year. Inter alia, the company will help VŠE to ensure compliance with licensing programs, as well as facilitating device management. Under the terms of the agreement, the company will also financially support selected student projects. Microsoft has been one of the VŠE’s major partners since 2012.

The Rector of VŠE, Professor Hana Machková, and the CEO of Microsoft in the Czech Republic, Mrs Biljana Weber, signed the Education Alliance Agreement on Tuesday, 22nd November, 2016. This Agreement extends the cooperation which has been going on between the two institutions for the past five years.

The main goal of the contract is to support the transformation of education, as well as local innovations, in addition to facilitating the sharing of contacts between Microsoft and the students, staff and graduates of the University of Economics, Prague, during the 2016-2017 period.

One example of the content of the Agreement is the emphasis on the dissemination of all possibilities for using Microsoft Office 365 among all staff members, as well as students. Office 365 primarily provides the tools for sharing and storing documents, in addition to securing communications between the school and the students. The VŠE’s management have decided on a university-wide deployment of the Office 365 solution for both employees and students. The deployment process is continually consulted with Microsoft, which as far as possible also provides support services for IT staff, as well as discussing forward deployment with the university. The Office 365 solution, for both employees and students, is provided by Microsoft Ltd. to VŠE free of charge.
