The University of Economics, Prague was awarded the second best university in Central and Eastern Europe

The University of Economics, Prague (VŠE) took the second best place in the annual international ranking of Eduniversal. In Central and Eastern Europe region, 81 universities in 21 countries were selected for the ranking. Only three universities – “Top 3 Business Schools” – in the region received the highest number of palms– five – symbolizing the development of their internationalization: University of Economics, Prague; Warsaw School of Economics and Saint Petersburg State University.

Since 2008, Eduniversal has ranked the 1000 business schools and universities from 153 countries. The ranking aim is to provide students and professionals with a global panorama of the top-class universities and the possibilities of high quality management education. The award ceremony took place in Lima, Peru capital, at the 5th Eduniversal World Convention on 17 October, 2012. The award for VŠE was accepted by Hana Machková, the university´s Vice-President for International and Public Relations.

The schools are selected by the 12-member International Scientific Committee. They can get the ranking of one to five “Palm Awards” indicating the level of an academic institution’s international reputation. The Palms classification is based on two key elements – the internationalisation criteria and The Deans ´Vote. The internationalisation criteria are: international accreditations, well recognized journals such as Financial Times or Business Week ranking classifications, international academic associations´ memberships and the quality and extend of partner-university networks. The vote is given by the deans and the presidents of the 1000 listed schools. The schools are divided into nine geographic world zones while only 3 schools per region are awarded.
