Erasmus+ exchange programme continues
The Exchange programme continues even in these time and first 160 students have departed to study abroad at our prestigious partner universities. The University of Economics, Prague (VŠE) has welcomed over 170 students from 90 partner universities in the past couple of weeks.
The traditional Orientation Week was transformed into a series of online sessions and consultations, which enable the students to experience a smooth transition into the new environment. Although the sessions were redesigned into an innovative mode, the portfolio of topics was purely traditional: an interactive session covering culture shock related issues, a short introduction to the Czech language and an initial presentation of the VŠE library services. The sessions explaining the organization of the Exchange Programme and the VŠE information system (InSIS) were an integral part of the concept.
On the other side of the Exchange programme, local students are representing VŠE at the partner universities abroad. The majority of this group have settled abroad, some of which needed to start their exchange period earlier than initially scheduled due to the required quarantine in the country of their destination. Students have already left to Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Austria, Netherlands, Hungary, France, Portugal or Spain. The exchanges continue not only within Europe, but also beyond the European borders – VŠE students are in South Korea and Hong Kong.
In comparison to the same time of the previous year, there is a 50 percent decline in the numbers on both outgoing and incoming side. However, in the case of an improved epidemiological situation, a major part of the cancelled mobilities will be shifted towards the Spring Semester 2021.
