Orientation Week, Fall Semester 2022, academic year 2022/2023

Traditional Orientation Week for international students took place from September 14^th to 16^th 2022 at Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE) campus. For approx. 800 students, both exchange students and students of English taught programmes an enriching programme was created with the main purpose of the Orientation Week is to help the students become familiar with the VŠE campus, prepare them for the beginning of the semester, meet new friends and last but not least, explore the beauties of Prague.

The event, which has grown into a tradition over the years, is organized by the International Office, and consisted of a wide scope of activities. The Orientation Week Programme was composed of useful events, ranging from the necessary paperwork to more interactive sessions. A lecture explaining the theoretical background of the culture shock, a basic Czech language lecture and a lecture about the Cultural history of the Czech lands are certainly worth mentioning. The Team Game, designed to guide the students through the Žižkov campus, was also an entertaining way of broadening the students’ horizons in areas related to the Czech Republic During the whole programme students had an opportunity to play games, get familiar with Students organizations and rest at Chillout zone.

Due to the high number of incoming students, two Welcome Ceremonies, as the most formal and festive event of the week, took place at Vencovského aula. A university representative held an official welcome speech followed by a cultural dance and musical performance of the Gaudeamus ensamble.
