The final farewell with Prof. Ing. Kamil Janáček, CSc.
On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, a final farewell was held at the Strašnice Crematorium for Prof. Ing. Kamil Janáček, CSc., a long-time collaborator of the Prague University of Economics and Business, who had been teaching at the current Faculty of Economics since 1984.
Kamil Janáček was a graduate of the Faculty of Commerce and studied in France at the Université de Nancy from 1967 to 1968. In the early stages of his career, he worked as a research scientist at the Economic Institute of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. Since the early 90s, he was one of the significant personalities involved in the process of transforming the Czech economy. Prof. Janáček managed to combine scientific research activities with a successful practical career. From 1992 to 1993, he served as the Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, and from 1994 until 2010, he was the Chief Economist of Komerční banka. In June 2010, President Václav Klaus appointed him a member of the CNB’s Bank Board, where he served until 2016.
At the Prague University of Economics and Business, Kamil Janáček was habilitated in 1991 and appointed Professor of Economics in 1997. Professor Janáček was the author or co-author of many professional publications, scientific articles, and research studies, focusing mainly on the issues of economic transformation and macroeconomic theories and analyses. Students and colleagues appreciated his deep professional knowledge, international experience, kindness, and cultured expression.
