FIR has new graduates of the Sports Diplomacy MPA programme

The FIR officially awarded diplomas to 10 graduates of the MPA Sports Diplomacy programme. The Sports Diplomacy Programme, in which the FIR VŠE closely cooperates with the Czech Olympic Committee, has been running at the FIR in the lifelong learning mode for six years. After successfully completing the programme, students receive a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree.

“The programme is not only used by sports associations as a way to improve the qualifications of their employees, but it is also open to the general public,” says the coordinator of the programme at the FIR, Mgr. Ing. Kateřina Kočí, Ph.D. Over the past five years, representatives of sports associations and active athletes have been through the programme. Among them, for example, Olympic basketball player Ilona Burgrová or athlete Lenka Masná or six-time Paralympic champion Jiří Ježek, skier Klára Křížová and Slovak Olympic champion Matej Tóth. “The Sports Diplomacy Programme is one of the ways to increase the Czech Republic’s representation in international sports institutions and strengthen the influence of Czech sport in the world,” Kateřina Kočí added.

The MPA Sport Diplomacy is designed as a two-semester lifelong learning programme. Students take 10 courses. They study sports diplomacy, organisation and financing of sport, law, negotiation and argumentation, communication and media work, management and marketing, basic protocol and etiquette, and intercultural communication.
