International students coming to study at VŠE are joining the Orientation Week /4.-10. 2./
Approx. 400 international students coming to study at VŠE during the Spring Semester 2019 are joining the Orientation Week on Monday, February 4, 2019.
The event, which has grown into a tradition over the years, is organized by the International Office and CESP Staff and consists of a wide scope of activities. The main purpose of the Orientation Week is to help the students become familiar with the VŠE campus, prepare them for the beginning of the semester, meet new friends, overcome the initial phase of the cultural shock and last but not least, explore the beauties of Prague.
The Orientation Week Programme is composed of useful events, ranging from the necessary paperwork to more interactive sessions. A lecture explaining the theoretical background of the culture shock, Czech language lecture and a lecture about the Cultural history of the Czech lands are certainly worth mentioning.
The Team Game, designed to guide the students through the Žižkov campus, is also an entertaining way of broadening the students’ horizons in areas related to the Czech Republic.
The Student Organization Fair will be held for the students intending to be active within VŠE Student clubs throughout the semester. Undoubtedly, the Buddy System keeps its first place among the Student clubs in the first weeks of international students, offering informal meetings called Buddy Language Cafés and trips in the Prague city center as well as in its neighbourhoods.
Finally, the Welcome Ceremony, as the most formal and festive event of the week, is scheduled to take place at Vencovského aula. A university representative will hold an official welcome speech followed by a cultural dance and musical performance of the Gaudeamus ensamble.
