Looking back at the ceremonial meeting of the Scientific Council of the University of Economics and Business

On 21 November, the Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE) commemorated an important milestone in its history – its 70th anniversary – with a ceremonial meeting of its Scientific Council. This meeting, offered an engaging platform for discussion on the topic of “Current Economic Challenges”.

Important appointments and recognitions

The event was preceded by the appointment of three new associate professors, who expanded the esteemed staff of the University: doc. Marko Orel, Ph.D. from the Faculty of Business Administration, doc. Ing. Květa Olšanová, Ph.D., and doc. Ing. Jana Peterková, Ph.D., both from the Faculty of International Relations. Their expertise and academic contributions reflect the VŠE’s commitment to academic excellence.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of the Rector’s Awards. In recognition of significant achievements in applied and contract research, the awards were presented to Assoc. Mgr. Ing. Ondřej Dvouletý, Ph.D., prof. ing. Jakub Fischer, Ph.D., doc. Mgr. Ing. Petr Mazouch, Ph.D., and ing. Jana Abíková, Ph.D. Furthermore, the Rector’s Prizes for outstanding scientific articles were awarded to ing. Milan Bednář, Ph.D., Ing. Pavel Potužák, Ph.D., and doc. Mgr. Ing. Marek Hudík, Ph.D.

Discussion focused on the future

The meeting, opened by the Minister for European Affairs Martin Dvořák, featured a panel discussion with prominent economists and graduates – Eva Zamrazilová, Mojmir Hampl, Jiří Rusnok and Miroslav Singer – who offered insights into economic challenges and future prospects. This discussion embodied the role of the VŠE as a leader in economic thought and discourse.

As the VŠE celebrates its 70th anniversary, this celebratory gathering not only reflected its rich history, but also set the stage for future academic and research endeavors and reinforced its position as a leading institution in the field of economic and business education.
